Convected air kills bed bugs and their eggs
Axial fans and centrifugal fans are an integral part of the GreenTech Heat process for killing bed bugs and other insect pests. There are a variety of fans that can be used to eradicate bed bugs with a GreenTech Heat treatment, but how can you be sure that they will withstand the high temperatures we achieve? Power draw during an electrical bed bug heat treatment is just as important of consideration as the maximum temperature a fan can withstand and remain operational.
We’ve done the hard work for you by testing axial fans in real-world scenarios to determine which units work the best while drawing the least power. If you are going to use older fans that you currently have as part of your equipment inventory while you heat treat for bedbugs, you will want to test the fans to make sure they are able to reliably run at higher temperatures. Some axial or centrifugal fans shut off at temperatures as low as 130°F, which will stop convection currents limiting the effectiveness of the heat treatment.
Dr. Linford teaches that a well-placed Air Mover fan can decrease treatment times as significantly as adding an additional electric bed bug heater into a bed bug heat treatment project. Position fans to direct heated treatment air towards hard-to-heat objects, to disrupt stratification and stagnation in a room being treated for a bedbug infestation, and to move air along, under, and around pieces of furniture with identified bed bug infestations. Probing and temperature measurement during bed bug treatments is key to understanding where to direct heated air to maximize the effectiveness of every bedbug treatment.
